If you've never traveled out west, I highly recommend doing so and including Mammoth Mountain, California in your itinerary. Nestled in the spectacular Central Sierra Nevada, this mountain resort mecca has everything to offer whether you're the outdoor enthusiast or the more laid-back type . Winter, spring, summer, or fall; skiing, boating, fishing, biking, hiking, or just taking in the specactular views, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

The snows will be flying soon in the mountains of the west and if you haven't booked your trip to Mammoth, it's certainly not too late to do so. Last year, Mammoth received 480 inches of snow; translated, that's over 39 feet. On average, the mountain gets 339 inches of fresh powder eash year. Are you getting stoked yet? Mammoth mountain has terrain for all skill levels including the infamous Cornice Bowl, which in most years challeges even the best of skiers do to its extreme grade and the fact that you must leap off the top lip to get started down the mountain. Aside from the awesome skiing from the top, there are also breath-taking views of the Mighty Sierra Nevada spreading out in all direction for miles upon endless miles. Just to the west of Mammoth are the Minarets of the Ritter Range. Words alone cannot describe the awesome beauty and majesty of these ancient pinnacles that withstood the ice age.

Crowley lake is just one of many that offer some of the best boating and fishing an angler could imagine. Rivers and streams are abundantly filled with California's famous brown trout. If fishing is not your thing, you can just pull up a chair on the beach or along the bank of your favorite river or stream and enjoy the fresh mountain air while taking in spectacular views in all directions of the Sierra and off to the east, the impressive White Mountains.

When the mountain is not covered with skiers, mountain bikers can be seen carefully maneuvering down the mountian on one or more of the 36 trails created just for the mountain-biking enthusiast. Don't fret about getting up the mountain, there are bike lifts to take you and your ride up the mountian.
